The Popovits Crew | Matt, Lisa and Ava Elise

Meeting in Jr. High school, Matt and Lisa are best friends who dated all through the high school and college years - marrying in May of 2002.  Matt and Lisa are natives of the Great Lakes state.  No, not Wisconsin - Michigan.  Matt and Lisa are members of the famous ‘98 graduating class of Flushing High - famous because most of it packed up everything and eventually moved to St. Louis, MO.  No joke.

But before that move, Matt and Lisa both graduated from the University of Michigan; Matt with a BA in Theatre-Performance and Lisa with a Bachelor’s in Social Work.  Then it was off to the great - and we mean great city of St.Louis, MO - where Lisa quickly earned her MSW from St. Louis University and began to support Matt’s butt as he worked his way through Concordia Seminary, earning his MDIV and becoming a Pastor in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

Three years later, in June of 2005, they packed everything up and headed further south for Matt’s internship at at CrossPoint Community Church in Katy, Texas outside of Houston.

Not long after that, the best thing yet happened to Matt and Lisa as Ava Elise was born, August 16th 2005.

In May of 2006, Matt received a call from that same church to serve as Worship Pastor.

That brings us today, where Matt, Lisa, and Ava are enjoying the hot and humid life in Houston, serving God and loving people.  For them, life is about building relationships and sharing the story of God.  In the midst of it they love their family back in Michigan and in Louisville, KY; Cardinals Baseball; and reality TV.
